a few hours in casablanca

I spent the rest of my summer in Egypt (where my family is from) and I transited in Casablanca, Morocco for a full day. While it was difficult to do specific sightseeing because it was still Ramadan, we got to enjoy most importantly the Hassan II Mosque, primarily built on sea water (read why on the wiki page!). The one thing I knew I would love heading into Morocco, as any coffee-table book or editorial would show me, are the mosaics. I just love the use of mosaics in Islam and the Arab world.

And there’s something so Mediterranean about these mosaics I photographed :)

More posts to come on Egypt; in the meantime, enjoy these photos!
